Tommy's Castle

Availble now !!

I'm working on a game. Well, in fact, it's not THE most exciting game you will ever have played, but it isn't bad either. It's called "Tommy Castle" and the gameplay is very easy. You're in a kind of "room" with lots of bricks, ladders, ropes etc. It looks a little bit like Lode Runner, but there's far more to do and the levels are bigger. The purpose is to reach the exit of the room. To do so, you can make use of the keys and chests which can be found in the room. If you open a chest, something "magically" happens. For example: If you want to see some screenshots, just click on there names: However, the game isn't finished at all. A lot of work still has to be done. For example: the game only contains 2 levels. (There's place for 60 levels...). I also need inspiration to find other things that can happen by opening a chest.
Luckily, I've also made a "Tommy Castle Level Editor". If you want to make your own level, you can just do so. And if you made one, and you think it's good enough, do not hesitate to send it to me (as an e-mail, e.g.). To do so, you just have to send the file "levels.dat", that's all (Please zip it first...). Also, if you have any ideas for new chest-opening-actions, let me know. My e-mail address is Tom.DeMedts@rug.ac.be. Your name will certainly be mentioned in the next releases.

The file tcastle.zip(version 0.91d - a new version, released on 14 Sept 1998) contains the game itself (tcastle.exe), the level editor (teditor.exe), the level data (levels.dat - Sorry, the file has a fixed format for 60 levels - BUT - it compresses to a mere 1500 bytes !) and a small program to make a new, clean "levels.dat"-file (newlev.exe). Since the program makes use of some font files (*.chr), it also includes a couple of those files. Maybe I might want to remove them in future versions, because these "pre-made" fonts have the disadvantage of being displayed very slowly. The source code (in C++) is not included, but it is available on request, by simply filling in the form below.

With this form, you can send a request to obtain the source code of the game (C/C++ - compiled with Borland C++ 3.1). You will receive the CPP-files as an e-mail attachment, so make sure the e-mail field is properly filled out !
